At Howard Hanna, Halloween is taken seriously.
The whole street closes down, the kids line up, and the businesses show up for the Halloween Parade. This year, HowardHanna had the theme of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The entire office was transformed into a magical place, full of candy, bright colors and balloons, thanks to the magnificent Tricia!
My task for the parade - CHOCOLATE!
Our manager wanted a fun marketing handout that will fit the theme of Willy Wonka. So of course, Wonka Bars were the answer! We tried a couple different chocolates, Sarris was too small, king size bars were too big, until we found the right one - classic Hershey.
Then we needed the design. My manager wanted a design that would focus on three things:
1) Howard Hanna
2) Willy Wonka
3) Halloween
I came up with a few different designs that showcased these elements, and the one in the images attached is the one everyone agreed on.
The little haunted house on the top left corner ties in both Halloween and what Hanna is at its core - houses. The swoop of “Howard Hanna” mimics that of the Willy Wonka logo, and we found the Canva font closest to the iconic movie font. And of course, we have the words “Howard Hanna” big, green, and right up front - we don’t want this marketing opportunity to be missed.
My favorite part though is the Golden Ticket. Our amazing Tricia put together a Willy Wonka basket for the kids to win - a sampling of our local Grandpa Joe’s candy store - and we needed something for them to fill out.
Under each wrapper was a little gold card, or Golden Ticket, for the kids/families to fill out. The tickets were put into a bin, and at the end of the day, one lucky winner took home Grandpa Joe’s best. All in all, we made over 300 candy bar wrappers - and we ran out the day of the parade! I’ll have to think a little bigger next year.

Golden Tickets were printed on gold card-stock on the same printer.
